Hello!
I am interested in purchasing a 2014 Ford C-Max Energi with 60,000 miles. The dealer is listing it at $9,999, and after test driving it today, it turns out Ford bought the car back from its original owner due to the lemon law (California).
First off- the car drives great and I don't notice any problems. Through checking the paperwork that the dealership gave me, when the car was originally purchased in 2014 there were two documented problems of the car not starting and of a "loud noise". The dealership replaced the battery and retested everything and the car passed.
In 2015, the back up camera wasn't working and it was replaced. The car also had to be jump started, again (third time). The dealership lists that they reprogramed the modules and performed a wire inspective, which passed The dealership fixed the standard recalled areas of the car in 2017 and at the end of 2017, the paperwork shows that the vehicle was not starting due to "no crank." The exact problem listed is "start/run/move starting no crank OTHER" and for repairs, it says, "performed battery test, battery passed. Checked for TSB & SSM, none found. NPF."
The dealership is adamant that Ford fixed all issues but according to the paperwork, it doesn't seem so. There is a 12,000 mile/1 year warrant through Ford due to the Lemon law.
Do you guys- as C-max experts- believe this is a good deal for the car or should I keep looking? Assuming everything continues working, I think the price is fantastic. But I also don't want this problem to continue occurring.
Any wisdom would be appreciated. THANK you!
