Today I was driving in hybrid only mode (No EV) and came to a stop then made a sharp right turn.  I heard a pop, then a grinding noise with acceleration (up to 35mph).  Thought perhaps something had popped loose so pulled over and checked everything around wheels and under car with nothing found.  Drove some more and it kept occurring, a pop and then grinding noise that seemed to come from front wheels, but only when accelerating with a right turn.  So then I switched to auto EV mode, and the sounds stopped.  Tried numerous times to recreate the sound in EV mode but no luck.  Switched back to hybrid mode, and the sounds came back.

Any ideas out there?

WOW that's weird.  My initial thought is the right CV joint has gone bad but it would do that in any mode because it's downstream from the drivetrain.    I would elevate the front end on jackstands or a lift and see if you can recreate the issue while looking at things.
