So I just double taped the unlock button on my key fob and held it down for about 3 or 4 seconds and all the widows opened.

Also found I couldn't close any of the window with the fob.

And the door panel controls for the windows were dead until I touched the start button inside the vehicle.

That's going to be handy in hotter weather and when I visit family in Fla.

Another thing that's handy is remote start, to let the air conditioning get a head start on things.  The air conditioning is very efficient.

You have to have it on when you stop the car, but you probably will anyway.

You shouldn't need to have the air conditioning set before you stop the car.  There should be settings in the lefthand menu for remote start options.  Sounds like yours is set to just do whatever the climate control was last set to.  If I remember correctly mine is set to auto everything so it basically heats or cools the car as needed to reach 72F and below freezing will switch to defrost, turn on the rear defroster, etc.
