I have a level 1 Ford charger for my 2014. It melted a power strip and I replaced the plug because I destroyed the plug removing it from the power strip. The plug was replaced with an “Industrial” 15Amp quality plug. I then plugged it directly into a 20 amp wall receptacle. After a couple months I checked the plug and it was burnt. I inspected the plug further and the insulation within the charger is completely chard and melted. This post is to warn everyone about the fire hazard these chargers can be.

The receptacle is fine and my house wiring appears normal. The problem is the charger.
