Looked at a 2013 C-Max Energi last week and noticed, while test driving, that the CPPM ESN in the MFT Settings menu said "UNKNOWN". I knew the old 2G modem would most likely need replacing but was a little scared there was no ESN listed, at all. Figured the issue was something small, like a burnt fuse, so I took the risk and bought the car!

Today I checked the "#67" fuse on the passenger side fuse panel and discovered it was, indeed, bad. Went to the local auto shop to get a replacement 7.5 amp fuse (.65 cents) ...and WALLA! There is now an ESN number listed. It's ALIVE!!!  Unfortunately, the ESN starts with an "N" so that means it's the old 2G modem and needs replacing. Hopefully the local Ford Service Center can do that soon. Want to see what MFM is all about.

Started this topic so that if anyone else has a CPPM ESN "Unknown" error they will know what to do.

Could you please translate what this is referring to in your post: 'CPPM ESN in the MFT'? I have been having connection problems since my modem was replaced last December. Pulling the fuse corrects the problem until the connection is lost a week or so later.

On the center touch screen if you search the menus you will find "CPPM ESN:". After will be a Serial Number, or sometimes it will note "Unknown". If "Unknown" it will not communicate with the central servers....

I just had this problem come up on my 2013, I had the modem upgrade with no issues until I went on vacation for 3 weeks.  The 12V battery did not go dead but the modem does seem to be the issue. I contacted Ford and they said I will need to contact my local dealer for a fix.

Did you try pulling, then replacing, the fuse?  This is probably one of the easier methods of resetting it....

I vaguely remember a place in the settings where you set the time... Hopefully this is resolved by now! I have painful memories of trying every which way possible to reset a bad/failed modem......

My MFM time on the trip and charge log is all crazy too. Go Times still work so I don't really care about that, but it's weird.
