MFM will not Update...suggestions?

mfm not updating

Best Answer altabrig , 19 July 2017 - 07:25 AM

Disconnect of positive worked! MFD setting want from a 2010 date and no value charge to my previous settings and MFM BACK ONLINE!

The positive clamp is bulky and awkward in the tight space - that is all. To do it right, removing the negative clamp require removing the air vents with multiple push pins, torx bolts, etc.

The failure to sync and remote start alerts came through and a false Chunk fully charged came through at plug in with only 14% on the HVB. Otherwise all is working with MFM!

I have almost chopped the plug and put on a heavy duty. Not sure to go with 15 or 20 amp and don't want to screw with it yet being this is the second cable in less than four years. Due to the fact that both have failed in the same manner, I plan on seeking some recourse and don't want to void that attempt via DIY plug mod. Go to the full post

That's a bummer. I did mention to the Ford dealer here that a firm upgrade may be needed, but they still wanted me to pay for diagnosis before they would do anything. Why should we even pay for firmware update???

Basically because Ford CAN charge for it.  Sure, it shouldn't take more than about 5 minutes to plug the computer in and update it but who's counting?

When I took mine in to fix the GPS(which only needed a firmware update that I ended up doing myself out of frustration), they told me that there was no problem with it(never mind that it periodically showed me on different roads than where I was), but IF they wanted me to have them continue to look into the problem I needed to buy a map update(nevermind the roads haven't changed in 60 years) for the full dealer price.

Anhoo, the dealer service person told me it was just like my phone that needs updates.  I'm just going to assume that this service person pays $120/year to buy new maps for his phone....
