3G upgrade, now SYNC

I bought a used 2013 Energi with a early build date (AutoCheck reports 11/2012). I was a fleet vehicle for 4 years.

I've noticed that my SYNC software doesn't have all the fancy do-dads that the User Manual says it should. For example, can't set GoTimes.

So I took it to dealer to upgrade from 2G to 3G modem, about 10 days ago. So far, nothing has changed. Still can't connect via MyFordMobile app.

Owner.ford.com says my software is up to date, but I don't think so (see screenshot).

The SYNC version is NOT up to date.  You should be on 3.8.  Take it back to the dealer, they HAVE to do the update, as it cannot be done from a USB stick.

The SYNC version is NOT up to date.  You should be on 3.8.  Take it back to the dealer, they HAVE to do the update, as it cannot be done from a USB stick.

Thanks RubyMax. Do you know if this is something Ford covers? Or do dealership typically charge for it?

The dealer should cover this under Field Service Action Number: 12M02, SYNC WITH MYFORD MYLINCOLN TOUCH WARRANTY EXTENSION COVERING ACCESSORY PROTOCOL INTERFACE MODULE APIM .

Thanks for the update on the update; I just scheduled an appt to get my car in for that. I've had the annoying random music playing lately.

The dealer should cover this under Field Service Action Number: 12M02, SYNC WITH MYFORD MYLINCOLN TOUCH WARRANTY EXTENSION COVERING ACCESSORY PROTOCOL INTERFACE MODULE APIM .

 

And extended it from 3 to 5 years from the original date of purchase.

I got my software update, but the problem with my Sync continues. I'm going to go back to the dealer on my next day off and raise Cain

UPDATE: I now have the 3G modem connected, and MFM app is working fine (I can schedule Value Charging, and GoTimes).

However, the software update issue remains. The screenshots still apply.

Called Ford support. They said the dealer had to report the update to corporate in order for it to finish? I called dealer and they said they'd never heard about that.

I got busy and then came back today and called Ford support. The first person said that V3.1.3 is totally up to date. I'm guessing that person is just not familiar with it, or there's a glitch and they haven't caught it.

What else can I resort to? Can I PM the FordIVTteam that occasionally comments in this forum?

You don't have the "leaf" tab at the bottom of the screen, you don't have v3.8.  I have the file on DropBox, I'll PM you.

That's probably true.
A trip to the dealer is required.
