It was bound to happen someday, it took 4.5 yrs smile.png for me. Stopped at traffic light on 4 lane divided road with 45 mph speed limit and the road has only one straight ahead lane in about half mile with stop sign. I was planning to EV to 15mph and 2 Bar accelerate like normal and I should end up in front of Prius V for the single lane ahead.  Apparently the Prius V driver misinterpreted my quick EV start, Prius V is sluggish from start so he floored it and started to pull ahead of me. Not what I expected, then I'm thinking are you kidding me, so I floored MADMAX  and blew by the V almost like he was standing still, WOW when you see the difference acceleration side by side it's amazing. yahoo.gif

Yeah, there's not really any comparison in acceleration between a Prius and C-Max energi...

In hybrid mode on the C-Max, it's got TONS more power.  I wanna say like 50% faster to 60...

If you were in EV mode in the C-Max, my guess is that the Prius would pull ahead of you maybe around 40mph...

Hmm, actually a quick search is showing that the Prii have gotten a bit faster than I recalled.  Still, looks like 8.5 compared to 10.2 seconds to 60.

Visually it isn't even close. :smile2:

I really like the room of the v (it's actually lower case in Toyota's strange logic) and test drove them 3 times before finally deciding the poor power was unacceptable.  It's heavier and longer than the Prius but uses the same drivetrain.

Extra room is the only real advantage which would be nice, but I agree with you it's not fun to drive. :smile2:

Its so funny to think...back in the day(late 80s), a quick Hot hatchback...Civic Si, Integra, GTi, even MR2 was considered quick if it could hit 60 in 8.5 seconds.  Now, we got a heavy arsed Ford Hybrid that does that.  Technology is amazing.

LOL So true, so true.  I bought a new 90 Civic Si (hot) Hatch for the wife's DD but I tore it up! every chance I got and man I thought that thing was quick.....back then.

We test drove a V before getting the Cmax.

V - lurching handling, imprecise steering on a sluggish pig.    Unpleasant driving.

I owned a Prius which was imprecise and slow, but you could find ways to enjoy the drive.   I found nothing enjoyable about the v.

The one handling complaint (outside the weight issue) on the cmax is the rack to rack limit on the steering.  Steering is precise and the ICE/hybrid power for an Atkinson cycle 2.0 is very good.

I guess I needed to be a little more precise, shorter turning radius. :smile2:

Always good to have a tighter turn rack to rack.

My 13 escape was the same, not enough radius
