Where is the 12 volt battery and how do you disconnect it?

Am I seeing this right, a conventional lead acid battery that can vent into the passenger compartment?

There is a vent line........I'm assuming it runs outside of the car as you do not remove it with the battery when you remove it.

I have never been able to located either documentation or physical vent to the outside for either the 12V battery or HVB.

That's a nice change instead of being buried in the back with the traction battery.

Are you sure that's the battery?  I thought it was there on my 2014 but it turned out to be a positive terminal on top of a black box that holds fuses.

Based on what I'm seeing in the 2017 manual it is the same as prior years. Just a jump point under the hood and the battery is still in the rear.

That's correct. The dealer told me it was under the hood and showed me the terminals but the battery is still in the rear.

Is there a more detailed video or step by step on the energi? I have the two covers off and their are still a couple duct looking things on top of the 12v battery limiting access.

I might take a look at that. I dropped off my 2013 at Ray Schultens Ford to have the latch recall done and to replace the 12V battery. I was on my way back from NW Washington State and that was the dealer that involved the least detour. Dropped it off at 3PM and stayed the night at a local motel just down the street. Figured that would be plenty of time to do both. I called them before checking out of the motel at 11AM and they said they got the recall done the previous afternoon but hadn't even started on the battery, the car just sat there for hours that morning. They said I would have to wait another 2 hours so I told them to forget it.

When I made the appointment and when I dropped off the car they asked if they wanted them to test the battery, each time I told them about the original TCU draining the battery down to 8V multiple times and having to put a de-sulfator on it every few months. I really don't think they wanted to change that battery.

I'm out in the middle of nowhere so the only battery sources are NAPA (who don't appear to make one that size) and local shops that sell Interstate. Interstate appears to have the 67R battery so I might order from local shop and change it myself. To paraphrase an old saying "If you want something done at all, do it yourself".

I would think a dealer that has done it multiple times should be able to swap one out in a 1/2 hour.

Oops.  Looks like if you add to cart they will not ship!  Sorry about that.

This is the battery I got for my wife's.  So far no more no start...
