The article, published today, says the deal ends *today,* so is this past news, or does it just mean that the dealers had until today to obtain inventory, but now can utilize the incentives to sell that inventory to consumers? {Jonathan}

 So $6000 on a Fusion with what is it now? $4000 tax incentive? Figure you could probably get another $2k......so maybe a $42,000 car for $30,000?

From what I figured out, you need to make $100k a year to get the full federal tax write off. It may be less if you have a buttload of mortgage interest. I live in a cheap part of the country and I would never get the full amount.

Not sure why you think you would need to make 100K it is a tax credit so if owed 6K in taxes when you filed your taxes owed would be zero and you would get any taxes payed back.  I have not seen anything about it being income related other than have a tax bill equal to the credit.

45K for head of household  comes out to about 6K in taxes owed rough numbers

Yeah I was wrong in that statement, but It all depends on your actual liability after deductions and exemptions. The tax credit for a C-Max Energi now is $4007.

How does the electric car tax work. Will I get a refund if what I have to pay is less than the credit How does the electric car tax credit work. For example, when I file taxes At end of year I have to pay back $2500 to IRS and the electric car tax credit is $7500 will I get $5000 back

No, it is not a refundable credit. It can only zero out your federal tax liability, the unused portion is lost.

If I purchased 2 electric car can submit 2 tax rebate claim?

The instructions for Form 8936, which refer to the Plug-In Electric Drive Motor Vehicle Credit state the following:

“If you cannot use part of the personal portion of the credit because of the tax liability limit, the unused credit is lost. The unused personal portion of the credit cannot be carried back or forward to other tax years.”

What this means is that if your credit is bigger than what you owe in taxes, the taxes you owe are reduced to zero and the amount of your credit is lost.

What you do is lease to buy, that way they take the Federal amount off the lease price. I got 12K off my 2016 in Feb of this year.
