I found a pretty good deal on a used 2015 C-Max Energi with 15k miles. I called to schedule a test drive, and the salesman who knew nothing about the car said they didn't have a cord to charge the car. I explained I have to know the condition of the battery by driving from full charge to empty and checking the kWh output. The dealer said they can't get a charge cord. Do I have any options to charge this car or "borrow" a cord somewhere? Maybe drive to a supercharger and let it charge to full?

You shouldn't have to be responsible for charging the car for a test drive, if they're a reliable and honest dealership, they should do that. Also, if they're a certified electric Ford dealership, they should have a level 2 charger on site. A charger is an essential part of this car, if the car doesn't come with one and the dealership won't replace it, I'd walk away.

The car is supposed to have a Level 1 (120V) charge cord stored under the drivers seat, have them take a look. Since they don't have their own charger they are probably not EV certified and might not know that.

Yeah, it's hidden so have them check there.  Plan B:  https://www.plugshare.com/

Is this the cord that comes with the car and fits behind the seat in the storage area? Thanks!

Well I bought the car. 2015 Energi SEL with 15,096 miles. They were asking $13,995 and talked them down to $12,700. I think I got a smoking deal even with one minor rear end accident on the carfax. Loving the car already. Bidding on an OEM Ford charge cord on eBay at $199 right now

Congratulation, Great choice. Hope you are successful on getting the charger. I think it is a great car and that you got it for a great price.

You can also get a non-Ford EVSE that will work too.

Hi, I used to be involved in the world solar challenge. We rode with the ISU team and they were great people. I still have an ISU solar team windbreaker around from 1997 I think. If you would like it, I could send it to you. I think its a large.
