Light Ring Broke - B1461 Code

light ring

Best Answer jdbob , 16 September 2016 - 05:57 PM

That sure is a strange code. I would guess is not related to the light ring problem. I check the Ford DTC code list reference.

Can't believe everything you find on Google. Actually it means "Charge Port Light Ring LED Segment 1:" The repair is to replace the light ring.

Well, right after I got my car back after the dealer having it for a week, I noticed the light ring was not lighting up one of the quadants (lower right). So back it went. 5 days later I get it back. They pulled a B1461 code from the car.

Yeah, that's what a google search showed too. I was hoping someone on here had some kind of different reference. Unless that ground messed up the charging system. Is the Energi really that sensitive to grounding? In any case, they replace the light ring as a fix. It seems to be working now.

Nope, I didn't believe it, that's why I posted here! That was exactly what was defective, so it makes sense.

I recommend that folks NOT turn off the light ring completely, but rather have it at least flash when first connected to the charger. It is possible to turn off the ring in the settings, but then you won't know if it fails.
