I had to use needle nose pliers to get it out. I am 6'1" and I had to lie on my back to pull it out. I also got some plastic fuse pullers for next time.

She might balk as yanking it. I was nervous at first pulling it. It take some pull to remove it. However if she has strong nails that might do the trick.

I have a multi tool (leather man clone)... I just couldn't fit my shoulders between the seat and the dash to get my arm near the box . I'm going to try again... but it is still only about 18 degrees out this morning

I had to make more than one attempt BUT my first attempt was with the old modem. I just forgot about it until I got the modem recall done. Worked as described after that.

Woohoo it works!! I'm waiting for my eldest son at a doctors appointment, and I drove down the street to a shopping center with a ChargePoint! Currently plugged in for the first time away from home!

Cool, glad to hear it!  Nice to be plugged in while waiting.  What I always do is plug in and walk to where I'm going.  So if I go out to eat, I plug in and walk to the restaurant even if its a mile away no worries as I like my car to charge while I'm spending the time eating or running errands :)

So how long was the wait for the 2nd confirmation in hours?

Here is a tip for you.  If you want to sit in the car while charging, leave the car OFF but you can turn the radio ON with the button for the radio on the dash, that can be done any time no key required.  If you leave the car off you will save about 600w and charge faster than with the car on.  You can monitor the battery level in the MFT screen under the leaf icon.

Hope that helps.

I have a question about that. If doing that method, will the charger be actively keeping the 12v battery topped up?

Yes while plugged in and actively charging the HVB, the 12v battery is being charged as well.  This was already debated, here is the video I made:

OK Raja,

Here you go... now that I finally have MFM working, and have a couple of trips to report on here are today's numbers:

Commuting to work

Dropping off a friend at the train station during my lunch hour
Attached File  IMG_9312.PNG   245.75KB   0 downloads

And finally heading home:

I ran in EV later to work & on lunch, had 12 mi range leaving from the office. Drove most of the trip on EV, except where I Had to keep up with traffic and I put it in EV later again for about 2?miles...

Attached File  IMG_9310.PNG   251.05KB   0 downloads

I ran the rest of the commute in EV , at about 40 mph.

Temps were about 50 degrees for the last two trips, and about 35 to 40 on the way in to work.

Your driving scores are too low, how fast are you driving?

To improve the scores, try to max out all the driving coach bars.

This means no more than 2 bars of power during acceleration (empower screen in Auto Mode).

Braking slowing to achieve 100% brake score every time, unless something prevents that.  Plan ahead so you can.

Keep speeds less than 40mph in EV mode.  If you go on the highway you can go faster in EV later but driving scores will come down into the 80's at 65mph.

Most of my commute to and from work are at most 55 mph... on my way in, I'm running at the speed limit or 5 under, on the way home I tootle along at 40 in EV. I'm running in EV later for heat etc in the morning until spring really hits.

I'm never going to be a top scorer... while I enjoy playing the game, I don't have it in me to do it on every trip.

If I'm trying to relax after work, or it's my day off, so be it.
But there are times that time is usually of the essence.

I'll run in auto or EV later most of the time, it's a fantastic car, loving every minute of my time in it!

Yeah. In my case I don't really plan to push for really high numbers either. Even at the low end of MPGs some people see I'd be really happy. Coming from my old '07 Focus that topped out at 25mpg that is a very pleasing improvement for me. About the only thing I'd certainly ensure is hitting EV Later on any extended highway runs. That'll probably change come next winter though. Getting a 240V outlet and EVSE in my place is going to be challenging since there's no extra slots in my breaker box. Will probably run EV later and utilize the remote start when it gets really cold to keep the ICE going.

Two weekdays in I've been solidly on EV even with auto mode set. My work commute both ways + lunch run snugly fits in the ~20mi range. I generally get home in the afternoon with 3-6mi left. And I even managed to run out last night for dinner with only enough time to get her up to 13mi and got back with 1mi left. And about 2mi of that was highway in EV and it had absolutely no issues coming up to speed quickly (for me) without triggering the ICE.

Overall I am VERY happy with it. I'm still finding new tricks and features and despite some of its quirks, MyFord Touch is very nice for an OEM infotainment system. And bipping around town in pure EV mode is something magical.

I've also done some rough calculation on electric cost here and ours is around $.06/kwh. Compared to a low average of 40mpg in hybrid mode I'm guessing EV cost is about half that of gas at $2/gal for the same range. Our electric company has a free box that connects to Wifi and allows real time usage reading that I should be receiving soon so I can get a much more accurate idea on usage and costs then.
