What color is your 2014 window trim (side windows)?

My 2014 Candy Blue Energi came with chrome window trim on the side windows. I'm not a modder by any stretch, but I REALLY don't like the chrome and would prefer black.

Someone suggested covering the chrome with Plastidip in another thread, which seems like a decent alternative. But web photos of other colors make it look like some of the 2014 color options came with black window trim. If that's the case, I think I'd rather order black replacement trim instead of using the Plastidip.

So...do any of you 2014 owners have black window trim instead of the chrome that came with mine?

Thanks!

My ice storm has black around the windows, but a chrome strip running from the front to the rear, below the actual windows.

Yeah...that's the chrome I'm talking about. I don't care for it.

On my 2013, the small side window in front of the mirrors has the chrome trim attached.  It is only sold as one item and costs over $400.  Don't ask me how I know. :banghead:

For grins, I searched fordparts.com for the trim on the 2014 doors.  Those trim items can be purchased separately for $132 each.   So we're up to $1200 but what about the rear 3/4 window panel trim?   Wait for it................... yes, those are NOTsold separately either and those windows are also $400 each.  So $2,000 plus installation.    :hysterical:

Another 2014 Candy Blue NRG with chrome trim here.

It looks like the Hybrid SE doesn't have the chrome trim. From pics it looks like only black rubber molding all the way around the windows. Perhaps the chrome trim could be removed very carefully to leave only black rubber trim.

Mine came with the chrome, I like it.  GIves some accent coloring and I have no issues with chrome inside the car either that people speak of the sun shining in their face, have not experienced any of that.

IIRC, all SEL's have chrome body line moldings. The NRG only comes as an SEL.

Here's mine.

Thanks for the input, all of you.

So....any reason to believe the window trim for the Hybrid version wouldn't fit an Energi? I'm not willing to pay the prices you found, fotomoto, but hey, maybe I can find a Hybrid owner who wants some chrome and we can make a trade. :)

Alternatively, I just watched a video on YouTube of a guy in a wife-beater removing window trim from a Mercedes. It looks pretty straightforward. Maybe I could remove it, paint it, and put it back on. Or there's always the Plasti-Dip option...

Then again, I suppose I could just live with it. But I really do think the chrome against the Candy Blue ruins the look of the car. Just my own opinion...I'm sure nearly every other Candy Blue (or is it Blue Candy?) owner is happy with the chrome.

A trade is most likely out of the question.  Again, the trim on the non-roll up windows are part of the windows.  I couldn't get a quote from an aftermarket supplier when I was looking for a replacement.

Oh...I see what you are saying now. The part about it being part of the window itself didn't quite sink in for me. Thanks for re-stating it.

Well, it looks like I have two cost-effective options:

1) Learn to like it.

2) Plasti-Dip it.

Since it's too dang cold out to do anything about it right now, I have a few more months to try to learn to like it!

Or you might check with a auto vinyl wrap company. Perhaps they could just "wrap" the chrome strips.

Why not Plasti-Dip the pieces.

I like the chrome strips.  I gives the car an upscale look.
