Hey fellow Energi owners!

I have a question....I hope the terms I use are correct but....Since I bought my car, I have noticed that the weather stripping on the front part of the rear doors get 'twisted' once I open then close the rear doors. I have check with my friend who has an earlier model and his does not do it.

I also notice that it really rubs against the paint on the pillar between the front and rear doors. I am afraid it will eventually wear thru the paint.

And, when driving on the freeway, I hear the cars more as they pass me when the weather stripping is 'twisted' then when it is in its normal even form. I can hear them come up on me. I have pulled over on the freeway and ran my finger behind it to even it out and I can notice the difference in sound.

Does anyone else have this problem? if so, did you get it fixed?

I am going to take it to the dealer to get it looked at, along with the recent recall and other 'noises' I ear in the car, but thought I would check here first.

I have attached some pics to show you what I mean (I hope they are viewable).

Thanks in advance and you guys/gals always come through.

I have a 14' that does the same thing. I usually just run my finger behind it like you do. I'm hoping it will go away with age. It's not important enough for me to take it to the dealer. They can't have, I love this car too much!

Maybe I will give Armor All a try and see what happens.

Yes, this might help. My 13 did it on the right rear door only and my 14 has the same problem,

but not as bad. I remember it and flip it up to keep it from deforming that way. A spray silicone

might work better than armor-all.

Thanks, I will consider that too. I'm an Armor All fanatic but will consider the silicone. You think any other person would notice this about their car?

You might try this German product, Gummi-phlege.  I've used the BMW brand similar to this. Works great on door seals:

It's actually not a weather strip. It's the upright wind block strip on the door frame at the leading edge of the window frame,

on the rear passenger doors

I just checked mine, thankfully it doesn't buckle around like that.  There is a rubber piece there attached to the rear door and it looks like it forms a channel for the front door to sit against when closed.

Thanks all! I will let you all know what the dealer says when I take it in. I have a few other items I need to address so this is one of a few.

DCMAX, How did you apply it? Just regular Armor All?

Thanks!

Yes. Wiped it on and let it soak in and removed the excess.

My July '13 build has the same problem.  Silicone helped a bit.  Showed it to my SA last fall and he said, "Oh wow."  I got into the habit of running my finger behind the strip whenever I close the door.  Maybe I'll try another application of silicone.

Well, I just tired Armor All like DCMAX said and it did not work. I will keep it on my list of things to do when I go to the dealer for the recall work. It is too little ot take in just for that...after all, I have my finger to roll it out.

Chryssa, besides "Oh wow" from your SA, did he do anything about it? Replace it or?

Sorry the Armor All didn't work. I have only had my vehicle for 4 weeks so it hasn't had time to conform to the rolled over position. Maybe try some silicone as others have suggested. Good luck!

Nope. Just the 'Oh wow.'
