Driving my 2013 NRG from San Diego to Utah fro a week-long road trip. 10,000 miles on car, just had dealer maintenance last week, car was fine up until today.  In 90 degree Las Vegas when I started this AM the outside temp display said -40 and the AC blew hot air.  On MAX AC or auto at LO or 65 degrees.  Started driving and in a few (hot) minutes the display quickly became normal (87 degrees) and the AC started.  Later in the day after rest stops, same thing happened.  It seems like some sensor is blocked or overheating and sending a signal that the car wants warm air.  Any reason this might because the rear seat duct was blocked by luggage? I thought the outside temp was in the right side mirror, but why does th car think the interior is cold and send me hot air ?!?!?!

Thanks Doug,  The last times today I drove the car the AC started correctly.  Perhaps it was a loose connection or some moisture that has now dried out ???   I'll check again tomorrow and see if it happens again and then 'magically' resolves after 2 minutes over 20MPH - if so it looks like this is the same poltergeist that plagued the OP in that thread - but I don't see where the service was able to permanently fix it.

Let us know if the symptoms return, dontfret. I'll be happy to step in and assist, if needed. :)

Thanks Crystal - when I was panicking in Las Vegas I spoke to a local Ford dealer (Friendly) to ask if I could come in to see if this could be reset before I left town, who told me her service bays were booked for the next 2 days, she hadn't a clue and I should enjoy the mild weather and roll down my windows.

I appreciate your offer of help - but with this type of intermittent problem, I'm not sure what can be done remotely other than pray with me as I start the car and come up to speed and hope the reset continues to work.  Reminds me of the old days when you always waited 5 minutes after starting the car to turn on the AC.  But this car thinks I want heat if the auto or MAX AC is on.  Right now I'm in Brian Head UT, 40 miles from anywhere on a mountain top, no dealer in range.  BTW, can't wait to recharge the HVB by regenerative braking descending 10 miles at 13% grade!!

That sounds far "cooler" (in more ways than one) than anything the dealer could do for you!   :victory:
