When I turn on the a/c the electric compressor activates before the condenser fan as it should.  It is then that I hear a distinct buzzing sound that seems odd for a motor driven compressor.  When the condenser fan starts it is loud enough to mask that noise but I was wondering if it is normal?   The a/c works great BTW, it keeps me cool when the Bakersfield air is close to 110.

Its noisy at first with the compressor running at full speed, then quiets down more as it slow down and starts using less kwh in the climate meter.

The compressor is not a conventional design. It's what is known as a Scroll design. They are louder than a conventional compressor.

Shouldn't be a problem as long as it's cooling down the interior of the vehicle  :victory:

It cools great and it's not the loudness but rather the buzzing sound from the compressor I question.  I just want to make sure others do the same and it's normal.

Mine is buzzy at first start when the car is not cool.  Maybe it's the active noise cancellation or just good insulation but it's very difficult to hear inside the car, easy outside.  After about 2-3 minutes it's not nearly as buzzy.
