I spoke to an installer and scheduled an install of the air blue. He had a couple of cautions, the rake of these slopped windshields can make the film more noticeable at night was one. I never had these films before so news to me. I am going to try it.

I have occasion to drive straight into the afternoon sun for several hours and I hope this makes it less fatiguing.

Make sure you get the 6" strip along the top of the windshield, on top of the Air Blue. I have no problem driving at night, and if anything, I love the protection from headlight glare.

Today, I got into my Energi at 230pm, and the cabin temperature was the same 89F as OAT. All window were close all day before that, so my tinting and Air Blue is working better than I expected. Again, I will never tint my windows and not have Air Blue installed.

Turns out the airblue role is 36" and a bit shy of full coverage so we did do a dark tint panel across the top. It has to dry for a few days but it seems like it will be fine.

The Air Blue Tint King put on my windshield covered the entire windshield with one piece. I had to wait 3 days for it to dry to come back for them to install the strip. Sounds like the caution you got about night vision and the 36" problem is because they used a light tint instead of Air Blue. I talk to Tint King (Judy - 561-684-4621) and she said Air Blue does come in 36" and 60" rolls, but it has to cure for 3 days before adding the strip. She said they carry both rolls for big windshields like ours. Are you sure that company was a Formula One dealer?

Can any of you guys post pics of your cars with the Air Blue? I was hoping to have the 3M Crystalline installed but one of the few shops around here that suppliers jerked me around now wants $900 to tint the car so I'm thinking of going with the Air Blue. I'm just a little concerned with how the blueish tint will look compared to a conventional gray.

You don't even see blue, it's clear and matches my gray tint great. I'll post a picture soon, but $900 is a rip off. I paid a total of $450 for the best tint job you will ever see for everything including my Air Blue windshield. Nice and cool now when I get into the car, and less A/C needed.

GaryG,
Thanks for all this info. I had planned to get a tint job last spring, but after driving a factory-tint Escape (during one of the recall visits), I'd decided it didn't help that much. After reading your posts, I'm going to look into TintKing and the AirBlue. Price is spot on for what we planned. My drive is much further than yours, but I have the time.

Your welcome Rhea

About 25 years ago, a friend that collects expensive and rare cars said he recommended TintKing, and I've been using them since then. This was the first time I had them add AirBlue to the windshield, and I'll never tint a car without it again. The '15 Energi I have on order for my Son will get the same treatment when it gets here.

I don't know why I found that hysterically funny but I did.

Yeah, too bad. He really flogged the HVB, and I was hoping to follow his battery capacity over time to see how it degraded. I've not seen anyone as dedicated to squeezing out every bit of energy from the HVB.

I'll have to look into that for my wife's CMAX. The sides are tinted lightly but it still gets much hotter inside than my Fuison a Energi... Then again, mine are all 5% except the windshield and the windshield is 35%.
