I work at the top of a large steep hill. I use my brick to charge the car while at work, and usually have fully charged by the time I leave. But yesterday it was still charging (around 90%) due to some lunchtime errands. This is a 2013 Energi.

I head down the hill, and softly ride the brakes all the way down the hill, but at the bottom of the hill a dash warning flashes "PULL OVER SAFELY" with a red triangle icon with exclamation mark inside, and the yellow engine icon appears, and the fans start blowing like mad.

I was in EV mode, the car was full of gas, but the climate controls were off before the warning occurred.

I pull over, power down the car, and sit for a while completely bewildered. When I try to start it, the same warning shows, and I can't drive the car, it won't let me. I try it again, same thing. Finally after the fans turn off, I powered up the car and went on my way with no issues since.

I just read this article, but it's not the Energi? Same issue?

You'll need to find out what DTC (trouble code) the system has stored and go from there.

Sounds an awful lot like what happened to me, in this thread, but mine required a tow to the dealer.

Also tagged with one or more of these keywords: warnings, alert, wont start
