Stopped to get gas and the fuel door would not open.  There was a message stating it could not be opened at this time, see manual!!  It was cold with blowing rain and I was in a hurry.  I turned on and off the car a few times.  Finally after a few minute wait, it openned.  Is there a bypass when the button to open door does not work?

I used mine for the first time today.  I recalled the manual said there is up to a 15 second delay from pushing the button to having the door open.  So I pushed it, turned off the car, and went around and waited and waited.  After more than 15 seconds I asked the wife to push the button again and it opened.  Maybe it didn't like that the car was running the first time?

Anyway, there's an emergency release inside the trunk behind a panel opposite the fuel door.  Manual pages 192-193.

Yea, there's a bypass, look in your owners manual page 193.

Manual override procedure
The fuel system may be under pressure. Insert the
fuel nozzle slowly. If you hear a hissing sound near the fuel filler
door, do not refuel until the sound stops. Otherwise, fuel may spray
out, which could cause serious personal injury.
The manual override lever is located inside of the trunk on the right rear
side panel.
Remove the panel to access the lever.
When using the fuel door manual override to access the fuel fill inlet:
1. You must key on prior to using a manual override.
2. Open the fuel door with the manual override mechanism located in trunk.
3. Key off and complete refueling within 15 minutes. If more than
15 minutes is required, close fuel door, and repeat procedure.
This will enable you to refuel without any issue.

I looked for the manual override when I read that section of the manual. The picture in the manual is unclear/does not match the inside when the emergency plastic panel is removed. Has anyone actually found the mechanism for opening the fuel door?

Tonight for the first time I got a "Refuel Error - See Manual" message after pushing the button.  I tried a few times with no luck.  Before I tried the lever in the back, I went in to the store and bought a candy bar.  When I got back to the car I pushed the button again and it worked.  Maybe it just needed to cool down?
